The construction site is located in a narrow street, in the 'La Madeleine' district of Bergerac, on the left bank of the Dordogne river. The architecture of the building respects the town legislations and is based on a contemporary interpretation of the surrounding houses. Thus, the elements that characterize the neighbourhood and the street constitute the basis of our design: the rhythm of the templates, the gable roofs, the composition of the façades with vertical openings, the colours and the visible materials. The construction consists of 3 almost identical 3 story blocks, comprising 18 apartments. Open passages between the street and the garden behind the building provide access to the apartments on the ground floor. Upper levels are accessed through metal structure stairs and landings. The layout and composition of the building reflect the fragmented typology of the district. The apartments will offer bright, functional, easy to maintain and pleasant to live in spaces.
