Our team won the competition for the construction of a shooting and training centre in Bédenac. The site is very particular, marked by the strong presence of the wall of the Bédénac prison, along the departmental road. This strong presence dictates the concept of the project. The project therefore proposes a ‘landscape-building’, composed of several parallel strips of architectural concrete that stretch between the road and the prison, to propose a dialogue with the prison’s wall. It is a building that can be read on the scale of the landscape, without pretense or artifice, in phase with its content: long blind shooting rooms. The building is very exposed to the public’s eyes. The proposed organisation is therefore centred on an inside patio which makes it possible to combine spatial quality, natural light, relaxation space and the necessary intimacy. The rooms that require natural lighting are located around this patio, and are surrounded by the blind rooms, which create a protective barrier.
