Located on the western edge of the Pau Castle's park, the Baylaucq House, a listed 19th century bourgeois residence, was to be transformed into an annex to the National Museum, housing several public services and associations. The program included exhibition rooms, seminar rooms, a workspace for artists, research rooms of the University of Landscape Studies, an administrative space, a service apartment and artist apartments. The facades and the interiors have been carefully restored. The House identifies itself as a strong point of articulation of the landscape. Thus, particular attention has been paid to exterior developments directly adjacent to the protected park. Our wish was to find the obvious reading of the building and its history. The project was planned and implemented in accordance with the sustainable construction guidelines.
