In the heart of the village of Monsac, this forging mill was abandoned for a long time and was therefore badly deteriorated. We discovered and restored the original structure after the demolition of the unappealing additions, and emphasized its charm with the addition of sober architectural elements (such as grids and perforated wooden siding at the openings, new lighting) and the renovation of historic, exterior and interior floors. The forging mill found new uses: it became an exhibition space, a welcoming point for tourists and a stopover for hikers. The outside space has been redesigned as the city's central square, contributing to the mill’s development and urban role.
